About the Journal

The first issue of the PARKH, A Research Journal of Punjabi (Bulletin No. 1 of 1964) was first published in 1964 under the name of PARKH : A Research Bulletin in Punjabi Language and Literature upto 2000. The first issue came out under the editorship of Professor Surinder Singh Kohli, Chairperson, School of Punjabi Studies, PU.

After this, Professor V.N. Tiwari, Dr. Attar Singh, Dr. Kartar Singh Suri, Dr. Kesar Singh and Dr. Raghubir Singh were editors of this Journal.

It is Journal of International fame. In the issue of 1973, research of Dr. U.A. Smirnov (Research Scholar, USSR Academy of Sciences, Language Department, Institute of Orientalistics, Moscow) was published on the topic "Discovery of One More Tone in Punjabi and of Pharyngealization of the Known Falling Tone."

Discontinued in 2000, Professor Sukhdev Singh, Chairperson, School of Punjabi Studies re-started the its publication in 2012 and obtained ISSN No.2320-9690. Now, it is a multi-lingual journal, publishes articles in Punjabi, Hindi and English.

In 2018, Professor Yog Raj Angrish, the present Chairperson of the School of Punjabi Studies started the process to make this journal online. On request of Dr. Yog Raj Angrish, PU authority has make annual budgetary provision of Rs.80,000/-. This journal is devoted to publish original research of high standard.

At Present, Professor Yog Raj Angrish is Editor of this journal. In 2018, this journal is declared referred journal as per decision of the Academic Committee of the Department. The referees are Eminent Scholars/Eminent Writers in the field of Punjabi Academics from the different universities of Panjab, Delhi and Haryana.
